1999 PRESS RELEASE
Pleasanton, CA For additional information, contact: David Hans Email: dhans@amenglish.com AmEnglish.com announces the release of the first in a family of products designed for busy ESL (English as a Second Language) professionals. The "PRONUNCIATION IN AMERICAN ENGLISH" CD-ROM focuses on the most important aspects for the foreign-born, adult learner to develop for effective communication in English - stress, intonation and rhythm. "For an adult, with a lifetime of habits, correcting specific sound issues can be very challenging. Fast-paced, development work teams depend upon effective communication in English to reach their goals. Our system can deliver results very rapidly." Added Kathy Lee Hans, the author of the learning system. "We've achieved great outcomes with people from a number of different language backgrounds. Many languages do not place the same importance on stress, intonation and rhythm for understanding that English does. Emphasis on these key elements helps the listener focus on words that are critical to meaning. "This new self paced learning system has over 68 interactive lessons and practices, which in combination with the record and playback features, allows the busy professional student to work at his or her own speed to cover the more than 30 hours of instructional content. There are video presentations, audio examples and integrated written exercises to reinforce and build the comprehension necessary for immediate results. Single user versions start at $129.89, with multiple user discounts available for corporate applications. Kathy Lee Hans has over 15 years of hands-on experience teaching ESL for adults in the greater Silicon Valley area at the Adult School and Community College level. Chosen as a Mentor Teacher by the Hayward Unified School District, she has always demonstrated a keen desire to achieve the highest levels of results for her students. She has trained ESL teachers throughout California for the State Department of Education and authored "Teaching Pronunciation in Context", a training text with videotape for teachers and "Pronunciation in American English", a CD-ROM interactive learning system. Currently, Kathy offers teacher training through UCSC in addition to implementing creative workplace ESL instruction at innovative companies such as Apple Computer, Ascend Communications, 3COM, N.E.T. and Sun Microsystems. Kathy earned her degree in English with Honors at the University of California, Riverside. |
